Abano and Montegrotto Terme - are two towns located in the Veneto region of northern Italy at the foot of the Euganean Hills Nature Reserve. The saline, iodine-bromine thermal water is considered one of the hottest in all of Europe, reaching 86°C. Each hotel in this spa has its own thermal centre, offering a wide range of treatments: mud treatment, mineral baths and inhalations. These are the founders of true natural therapies, which in Roman times were called Salus Per Aquam (hence the acronym SPA). Over 240 pools in hotels in the two cities are filled with thermal water, which is pre-cooled to different temperatures. Thermal mud, the basis of most programs consists of four elements: water, clay, air and algae, and is prepared by specialists according to the specific treatment in each hotel. Before a treatment is prescribed, each hotel must be examined by a doctor, who will prescribe an individual treatment programme.
